There's also a bevy of seasoned sci-fi talent contributing to SPACE's newest original program behind the scenes! Amanda Tapping (Sanctuary), Andy Mikita (STARGATE UNIVERSE), Martin Wood (Sanctuary) and Mike Rohl (Smallville) are all set to direct episodes, while Gillian Horvath (Sanctuary) and Martin Wood will Executive Produce.
HyperStealth Biotechnology Corp. developed CUEPAT (Canadian Urban Environment Pattern) in 2010 which was down selected by DRDC Suffield, (Defence Research and Development Canada, Research and development arm of the Department of National Defence).
The CUEPAT requirement is to have an urban pattern which works in the unique requirements of Canada’s three major metropolitan areas, Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal. A camouflage suited to the Canadian urban environment is required when the military operates in urban terrain.
Martin Wood (Executive Producer) requested the uniforms for the series from Hyperstealth who had to obtain permission from the Canadian Military as the pattern is military restricted. The Canadian Military granted permission and within 2 weeks Hyperstealth had printed the material and ICE Tactical of North Vancouver had assembled the first batch. Guy Cramer, President/CEO of Hyperstealth "Once the production knew we could do this fast, they kept asking for more uniforms for following episodes. CUEPAT was designed specifically for these Urban environments that they are filming in."
Actors in CUEPAT uniforms await their scene during a typical Vancouver Spring rain delay for Episode 9. |
