HyperStealth® Camouflage goes Biotechnical
HyperStealth® Camouflage goes Biotechnical (September 22, 2005, Vancouver, B.C.) HyperStealth Biotechnology Corp., best known for their advanced digital camouflage designs has disclosed the SpecAm “Bravo” series uniform includes their patented “Passive Negative Ion Generator” manufactured directly into the collars of the field jackets. The SpecAm Alpha versions for the civilian and commercial markets are identical in all respects other than the lack of the Generator. Lt. Col. Timothy R. O'Neill, PhD (U.S. Army, Ret.) the leading expert on camouflage science and Mr. Guy Cramer, President/CEO of HyperStealth and a leading camouflage developer, co-designed the SpecAm pattern as an advanced fractal camouflage. A fractal is any pattern that reveals greater complexity as it is enlarged. Fractals describe many real-world objects that do not correspond to simple geometric shapes. All fractals are derived from a 'positive feedback loop' when the output is fed back into the system as input and looped over and over. The Canadian Patent for the Passive Negative Ion Generator was filed in 1999 and issued Jan. 27, 2004. No battery or power source is required for the negative ion emissions and the device has an estimated lifespan of 5 years. The clip on device is in a strip form that measures 3 ½ inches by 1 inch weighing about 20 grams which is fixed to the lapel or under brim of a hat or helmet so it is within the 15 inch range of the nose and/or mouth as inhalation of the negative ion emission is required. Negative Ion Generators are nothing new in the U.S. Military – The U.S. Navy began using ion generators on their submarines in the late 1950’s and still do to this day, a former Navy SEAL who works as an advisor to HyperStealth confirmed the U.S. Navy surface fleet also uses Negative Ion Generators on the bridges of their ships. The reason – to keep the crew’s alert and awake while on Bridge duty. The basis of this effect has also been confirmed by Israeli medical studies which show that by breathing more negative ions than positive ions causes the brain pulses to stay within an alert yet calm state (Alpha waves are predominant) making it difficult to fall asleep. This is the only side effect noted by the Russian government, who warned the Russian public to turn off any of the popular and widely used ion generators during sleep as these people were not getting the deep sleep required. U.S. Special Forces personnel using the clip-on device from HyperStealth since 2001 have affectionately refer to the device as the “IceCap” in reference to Iced Cappuccinos. The negative ion emissions make the device slightly cooler to the touch than room temperature, while the cappuccino refers to the simulated caffeine hit many of the users notice while wearing the device. Combining the HyperStealth SpecAm Bravo (fractal) camouflage and Passive Negative Ion Generator provides two advantages for the soldier not available anywhere else in the world. While advanced biotechnologies are usually reserved for Future Soldier programs where soldiers only hear about technologies that may or may not be included in 5-10 years, HyperStealth has already gone through this R&D phase and the device has been used by a number of Special Forces platoons and trainers for four years. A study NASA JPL provided Guy Cramer from Russian experiments with active (plug in) Negative Ion Generators concluded that the group breathing negative ions during exercise revealed a decline in expenditure of energy by 15%, meaning 15% less energy was required to do the same task as the control group. Quicker recovery time was also noted when compared to the control group. Whereas the group exposed to Positive ions had to expend 25% more energy than the control group and took longest to recover. There was a 40% difference in energy expenditure between the negative ion exposed group and positive ion exposed group performance to do the same task. The Canadian Government has approved both the HyperStealth Camouflage and the Passive Negative Ion Generator for export for military use to all but a few denied countries. Currently SpecAm has four different color schemes: Tropical (pictured on soldier at top left of page), Woodland, Desert and Urban with five more under development: Temperate, Snow, Light Urban, Mountain and Arid. Only a few of these color schemes will be made available in the civilian Alpha series. HyperStealth is limiting sales of the SpecAm Bravo Camouflage uniforms with the Passive Negative Ion Generator to specific countries Military and Police. The clip-on version of the HyperStealth ion generator for the civilian market is being discontinued as there is a limited supply of materials. SpecAm Alpha series uniforms in this color scheme is now available to Pre-order from HyperStealth.
